Welcome to David Street School
Welcome to new students Ronan and Puawai who joined us at David Street School.
Nau mai, haere mai ki te Kura o Rawiri.
Friday 3 March
In light of the horrific cyclone that went through NZ, our school will be having a Crazy Hair Day on Friday 3 March (next week).
To support those in need of help, we are asking for a gold coin donation as a fundraiser in support of the New Zealand Red Cross Cyclone Gabrielle relief fund.
Upcoming Events
Swimming events
Your senior school child will bring home a notice regarding whether they are in the Competition Swimming event.
If for sincere reasons your child cannot swim on either of the Competition or Carnival event days, then they must bring a note.
All children at either of these events will need to bring 2 towels, warm jumper, water to drink and a larger morning tea/lunch than normal. We are encouraging the children to wear their togs under their clothes to school if possible to save time when we get to the pools. They will wear their David Street hats when they are not swimming and we encourage them to come to school with sunscreen already applied.
Please see/email your child's teacher if you have any questions around the swimming events.

Junior Team News
The Junior team has purchased a range of equipment for our new PMP programme (Perceptual Motor Programme). We would like to acknowledge the Home and School Committee for their generous donation towards this equipment.
The Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) is a movement-based program that helps younger students improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion, and eye-tracking skills.
Here are some 'action shots' of Room 19 enjoying the new equipment and activities.
Learning Te Ao Māori in the Junior School
Our Juniors have been learning Te Ao Māori with Whaea Gurrud. Today we were learning to ask what someone's name is and how to reply.
